Epoxy Inlaid Sign I saw the logo for this new local brewery and wanted to design a sign using epoxy. It's time consuming as you need to wait a day between pouring the different colors, but not difficult. I used fine cornmeal to calculate the volume of epoxy needed to fill each pocket. The whole thing looks like a mess until it's flattened after the last pour, lol. This was made using 1/4" MDF with VCarve Pro on a CAMaster Stinger SR-24.

I'm making blanket ladders and wanted a jig to create the 10° angled cuts easier and faster so with some newly acquired knowledge I was successful. I know I have at least 2 more to make. I went with the slip tenon joint for a stronger and cleaner look. Here is a pic of the jig I used for the leg slots and a pic of the parts ready for assembly. You'll see on the jig that it is the second version. I learned one way of how not to do it on V1. LOL

When I first carved this with my onefinity, the plan was to paint it multi colors but that turned out to be more difficult than I expected. (Maybe next project). So instead I put a primer coat on and used a vintage glaze then a topcoat.

This is a small CNC made footstool with thru-tenons. Kyle has had several tutorials on raised text, or text-on-text, so this was a good practice and application to make a Baby gift for a friend at the golf course. The wood came from oak cabinet doors from a friend that replaced kitchen cabinets. Red oak that was great for re-purposing on the CNC.

The topic of inlays came up recently and I decided to take it on. This is Cherry with Black Walnut inlay with no glue. I had run it through the planer to remove the excess Walnut and damaged one of the letters and in turn damaged the female part as well. Oh well its all for learning. I used a Tapered Ball Nose 4.2º with a .25mm tip. Female is .2 deep, male starts at .18 and cut depth is .02. Next time I think I'm going to only go .1 deep as .2 seems too much. I've seen some really intricate detailed inlays and I'm unclear how they get such fine detail even with a 15º V-bit.

Hello from KY. Here is a kid's Halloween costume accessory that I made using my ShopSabre23 and VCarvePro. She was dressed as a Viking and needed a proper Viking battle axe. It's made from hickory and was a challenging, two-sided project. It took a few attempts, but this is all done on the CNC. The finished project required no sanding and the sharp edge of the axe was perfectly centered, fresh off of the CNC. The handle has a 1/8" radius running along its length. Remember, these were only meant to be props and obviously I'm aware they aren't very strong given the grain of the wood and size of the neck where the "blade" meets the handle. I also made a samurai sword for my nephew. I'll include a pic of that as well. It, too is untouched after CNCing, and its "blade" edge was centered. I didn't get pictures of the finished product though... Hope you enjoy seeing it as much as I did making it. I look forward to hearing what you guys think. rt

Great Lakes Depth Map This is was a Christmas present for my son in law. Every time we saw one he would say "you could make that" well I finally did. I use VCarve Pro and a home made CNC. The project is about 18x26. Mostly CNC and a little laser for the small lettering. Covered in epoxy... another learning experience. I used tinted epoxy in several layers/pours for the lake depth then covered the entire thing in clear. Biggest challenge was figuring out how to make the tool paths and not wipe out the islands.

Recent projects. We are setting up a large shed that will be shared by my wife and I for our individual hobbies. The two shed signs will be attached to the front of the building. The caution sign was made for our daughter who has 4 small girls. All signs were made with PVC. I found a surplus store that has really good prices on their PVC. They were machined with a Bob's CNC Evo4. This was my first attempt with PVC and I am very pleased how they turned out.

Rotary Axis using X Not my first project but my most fun one. I took an old craftman router crafter and added a stepper motor and gearbox. I line up my X axis with the center of the spindle blank and then unplug the X axis and plug in the rotary stepper motor. (with the power off)

I have kind of an open wall where I plan to make eggman and knuckles and a spot for tails to be flying but those are future projects but not far out just Incase my boy gets tired of sonic.

Fabricated these 2 curves to match a molded bar rail, cut from Jatoba using a Thermwood CS43 router, did this 5 years ago, about 3 months after purchase of the router, this was a flip operation as the back side was relieved to mount onto the bar surface, cut with a 1/2" ballnose, I was absolutely amazed it worked, I barely knew what I was doing.

I have been working on a sign for my granddaughter for some time. I think I am on my 3rd or 4th iteration See picture attached. This is designed in vcarve pro 11.5 and I imported 3d bird and butterfly to accomplish cut. I really liked this one but it came out to masculine looking. I am now on my next version. My wife is telling me I am making it to complex and it doesn't look like a little girl and she is right. That is why I am doing it again. I think of all of the things I struggle with the most is the decision on design. Of course I love the wood look but it isn't about what I like. So this is my biggest challenge. My current redo is simplifying the design. Yet I am doing a pockets letters with profile cut letters that fit into the pockets. It worked and now I am struggling with painting it so it comes out like I want it. I will post the next iteration soon.

A very simple project but an absolute honor to be asked to make. A local deputy was killed in the line of duty and he was a member of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT). His fellow SRT members wanted to remove their SRT pins during the ceremony and place them into a plaque that his spouse could have.

Nothing earth shattering here, but I am enjoying creating these edge lit acrylic signs. This one is a night light for my god daughter. For some odd reason, she is very interested in sharks. I did this one with a 60 degree vee bit, but I have a pring loaded diamond bit coming in later this week. I think I can get cleaner lines and more detail with it. We'll see. Ron Grossl
Nothing earth shattering here, but I am enjoying creating these edge lit acrylic signs. This one is a night light for my god daughter. For some odd reason, she is very interested in sharks. I did this one with a 60 degree vee bit, but I have a pring loaded diamond bit coming in later this week. I think I can get cleaner lines and more detail with it. We'll see. Ron Grossl

My very first project for my niece and her 11th birthday. I did it without color at first but she insisted we 'zhuzh' it up which was her new favorite word at the time. Started with some heavy oak pallet scraps I paneled up to make the Vectric Heart Box (https://www.vectric.com/about-us/HeartShapedBox) and was soooo happy with just taking their plans and tweaking it with my own text. Took me a while to make sure that was done correctly and probably only 2-3min now after Kyle's classes! Super happy you keep evolving your 'system' Kyle and glad it seems being sick had an upside with all this new stuff! Dave

First project of the year. A nice display for my Forever Spin tops. The wood is Padauk with zebra wood details. The left spinning surface is from the manufacturer. The one on the right is actually a 4.25 inch mirror blank for a Newtonian telescope that I hand ground years ago but never finished. The parabolic curve makes a nice spinning surface.
